for when you're inking or pencilling in, I noticed you didn't really pencil in bottom panel at #2, but in #3 it's all inked in, I can assume that you ink by hand while shading, and do halftones on computer?

No, it got penciled. I just didn't have a scan of it at the time this was made. :D This tut was pieced together through documents I already had. Yes, I ink (and ink effects) by hand and do halftones on computer. Sometimes I used real scrapeaway tones for special effects, when needed.

Thanks for uploading stuff like this! It's really informative and neat to see your process. I love seeing tech pages like this. They are lovely to look at it, I like seeing the clearly laid out process, and they really benefit the art community!

And Damn. Tony, you fox. :iconisupercameplz:

Well, you're welcome; I am glad someone enjoys them! Sometimes, I take scans of stuff in case I mess up, so lining them up like this seems like a pretty cool use for those scans. :D

And Tony blushes at your scrutiny...

Nice guide. Any tips on how to keep track of tones you consistently use? I have trouble with that sometimes.

I tend to go at it with tone, but my sister, who is more comfortable using multiple layers, usually separates based on the object/character. Sometimes, it can be helpful to name the layer the lpi & percentage of the dot tone, or come up with a descriptor for the tone, if it's not dots or lines, i.e. lightning.
